Up for sale, a 1987 Fender Telecaster ‘72 vintage reissue model TL72-55 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Fender Japan model was produced at the Fujigen factory and offered only in the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside its country of origin. Weighing 7lbs 11oz, the one-piece maple neck and ash tonewood composition ensures a clear and detailed response with excellent treble cut and midrange punch. The TL-Current single coil pickups deliver an open warmth in the neck position and sparkling twang at the bridge. This Telecaster TL72-55 benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. Neck Specs: Wood: Maple Shape: Medium U, measuring .830” at 1st fret, .910” at 12th fret Fretboard: Maple, vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius Frets: Slender, light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5 Scale Length: 25 1/2” Nut: 1.650" (42mm), bone Tuners: Gotoh Serialization: “Made in Japan,” E-prefix (headstock face) Factory Markings: “55” yen pricing sticker on headstock Body Specs: Wood: Ash Pickups: ‘TL-Current’ single coil x2 Harness: Full-size Japanese pots date to April, 1987 Controls: Volume, Tone, three-way pickup selector Hardware: “Pat. Pend” three-saddle bridge with steel barrel saddles, flat-top knurled knobs, control cavity cover Plastics: Three-ply black pickguard, “top hat” switch tip The gloss finish shows faint buckle wear on the bass side of the upper bout, with some minor marks on the top and body perimeter and checking at the corners of the neck pocket. There’s isolated finger wear through the gloss on frets 1-3, and the gloss finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean. The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
