First year, Limited Edition 1976 Gibson Bicentennial Firebird - 1 of 268 Natural finish models made that year. The Bicentennial Firebird was Gibson’s mid-’70s revival of the classic reverse-body design featuring a full mahogany neck-through construction, gold hardware, banjo tuners and the distinctive ’76 Firebird pickguard emblem, all set off nicely by the Natural finish. Overall, the guitar presents very well with all hardware and electronics present and correct besides a replaced input jack and additional strap button hole. It retains the correct Limited Edition decal and serial number, correct banjo tuners and gold hardware. Foil has been added to the cavities at some point, and there is insulation to the back of the pickups, otherwise everything is what we'd expect to see. The neck has a comfortable profile, measuring 42.3mm at the nut, with a depth of 21.2mm at the 1st fret and 25.9mm at the 12th. The frets have been dressed quite low, which is worth noting, but the guitar remains playable and has the solid, substantial feel you expect from a neck-through Firebird. Electrically, it retains its two correct Patent Number humbuckers. The pots all appear to date to 1976, although some of the codes are partially obscured. The pickups suit the guitar well, with plenty of punch, clarity and upper-mid presence, while the neck-through construction and long string length gives it good sustain and a strong, even response. All in all, a great example of the limited edition Bicentennial Firebird! Please note no case is included with this guitar.
