Seller's description

Reverty Used Guitars Japan — every instrument inspected, set up, and played before listing. 1976-1979 Yamaha SB600 Super Bass - Fretless Conversion - Sunburst - MIJ This is a Yamaha SB600 Super Bass, a Japanese-made 4-string from Yamaha's original late-1970s Super Bass line. It has Yamaha's own body shape and the distinctive flared headstock of the early series. This example was converted to fretless before it came to us, so it is a player's piece for anyone after a vintage Japanese fretless. The Super Bass series appeared in Yamaha's catalogs from 1976 to 1979, and it was aimed mainly at the Japanese domestic market. This SB600 has the early-style headstock and open-gear tuners with butterfly keys, which are different from the later 'S' models. The headstock carries the script 'SuperBass600' logo with 'YAMAHA SINCE 1887', and the neck plate is stamped 'MADE IN JAPAN'. == SPECIFICATIONS == - Model: Yamaha SB600 Super Bass - Year: 1976-1979 (catalog period of the SB series) - Serial: 1115 (stamped on back of headstock) - Country of Origin: Japan - Color: Sunburst - Neck: One-piece maple with skunk stripe, 4-bolt neck plate - Fingerboard: Maple with dot inlays, fretless conversion (fret slots filled, lines visible) - Pickups: Two 8-pole single-coil pickups - Controls: Volume, Volume, Tone - Bridge: 4-saddle bridge with engraved chrome plate - Tuners: Open-gear tuners with butterfly keys - Pickguard: Black with white line - Weight: 4.7 kg (measured) == CONDITION == Overall: Good - Body: Scratches and dings throughout, consistent with age and use - Neck: Good condition - Truss rod: Limited adjustment remaining in the tightening direction - Fingerboard: Converted to fretless before it came to us (non-original modification) - Nut / Bridge / Saddles / Tuners: Good, function correctly - Hardware: Vintage patina and wear on the chrome parts - Electronics: Tested and fully functional - No odor This is an honest player-grade vintage bass with plenty of wear from decades
