Pre-CBS 1964 Fender Precision Bass with a great look, feel, and tone. If you're looking for a pre-CBS P Bass that you can play, gig, or record without all the issues you'd usually find in a 60-year-old instrument, this could be your answer. This bass is lightweight and resonant with a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood round-lam fretboard and a very comfortable, wide, thin, and subtly V shaped neck profile that I have not seen recreated accurately on any reissue. The truss rod is fully functional and the bass plays low and clean on the original frets, which show very minimal signs of wear. It sports a very old, hand-brushed but well done natural refinish on the body that has ambered over the decades and aged and worn with the bass very nicely. The neck remains all original and the finish is worn in on the back to play very smoothly. The reverse-gear tuners turn smoothly and hold tuning well.Specs:- Weight: 8lb 1oz (3.66kg)- Body: 3 piece Alder- Neck: Hard Maple with Brazilian Rosewood round-laminated fretboard and clay dot inlays- Decal: Pre-CBS spaghetti logo (silver)- Tuners: Kluson reverse-gear- Nut Width: 1.73 in (44mm)- Neck Width at 12th fret: 2.28 in (58mm)- Neck Depth at 1st fret: .82 in (21mm)- Neck Depth at 12th fret: 1.02 in (26mm)- String spacing at nut: 1.38 in (35mm)- Fretboard Radius: 7.25 in (184mm)- Pickup DC resistance (measured at output jack): 11.15K ohms- Pickup magnet: Alnico 5- Volume Pot: 250K ohm CTS audio taper (modern replacement, date obscured)- Tone Pot: 250K ohm Stackpole audio taper, dated 10th week 1964- Tone Capacitor: .05 mfd CDE ceramic disc- Output Jack: SwitchcraftThere are some non-original components on the bass, all else is believed to have come with the bass from the factory:- The pickup is a Fender Pure Vintage ‘63 Precision Bass pickup and sounds excellent - The volume pot has been replaced with a modern CTS pot.
