I have been told that this guitar is a bass player's "dream machine".As per the Fender serial # L17711, this is a 1963 Fender Precision Bass body with, what I've been told by the guitar store technician that worked on it, is a 1967-71 Fender Jazz neck, including a leather strap and a 1967-71 Fender hardshell case. Please note that I inherited this guitar from a longtime bandmate and friend who passed away a few years ago. The last time he played it was Dec. 31, 2006 when our music group dis-banded. He put both of his bass guitars in storage and no longer played them. The guitar has not been played and has been in climate-controlled storage since then for the past 19 years.I have recently had it checked out by a local guitar store professional. He verified the originality, model years and condition of the components. He said that the Precision body, pots, knobs, wiring and pickups were are all 1963 original. He said the body had been refinished at some point. He said that when he removed the Jazz neck, it had no markings at the end that would date it, but he suggested it and the pick guard are late 60's to early 70's. When I came to pick it up, the man told me the neck is most likely 67-71, just as the Fender case is definitely 67-71. He said he adjusted the truss rod; cleaned and hydrated the fret board; cleaned the electronics; installed new strings and adjusted as needed with his strobe. He told me the Jazz neck plays extremely well with ease along with that 1963 Precision sound. I am not a bass player and have limited knowledge of them, but I personally consider the guitar's overall condition at the upper end of very good. I know that my friend always took very good care of his music equipment. Other than having what appear to be normal wear and nicks from the Precision body being used the first 43 years of its existence, the whole guitar seems to be in fantastic condition for being 60+ years old. I am not a store owner or in the business. I am an individual that
