Up for sale is this vintage 1990 Fender HMT Telecaster Thinline. These HMT models are seldom seen and this example, an oddball of which we can only find a few other alike online, blends several of the features of the three models that were officially offered. Funny enough, we just sold an identical example of this model in black so it was a lot of fun to see this one walk in sporting a festive Candy Apple Red finish a few days later... This instrument features the shark-fin inlays, a silver Lace Sensor pickup, a DiMarzio humbucker, a Kahler locking tremolo system, a semi-hollow body with f-hole, and the odd-shaped headstock. It is all original with the exception of the missing tremolo arm, the switch tip, the strap buttons, and a missing F-cap on one control knob. Cosmetically, it is in nice condition for its age although it does show wear and a small area of touch up on the front of the body (pictured) The finish shows a few dings on the top (pictured) and the typical small "neck pocket" check (pictured) as well as numerous small scuffs and scratches which we have tried to capture the worst of in the photos. The hardware shows some wear and pitting but has held up well overall, with the worst of the pitting found on the neck plate (common with these, pictured). Our tech has just gone over this one by cleaning it up, polishing the frets, oiling the fretboard, spraying out the electronics, installing a fresh set of strings, adjusting the truss rod, adjusting the Kahler tremolo, and just giving it a good once-over. We are happy to report that cleaned up great and is now a great player with comfortable, low action all the way up the neck. The original frets show some light wear but still retain most of their life. A non-original plastic molded Gator hardshell case is included. The case is in good condition, but has the outlines of some removed stickers on the exterior. Other than that, it's good to go although it does show some scuffs and scratches. All of the latches
