Seller's description

INTRODUCTION: This guitar has been restored to life from a rather poor condition, though its ‘cosmetic’ flaws remain. So if you’re looking for an instrument without any cosmetic flaws, look elsewhere straight away. Before setting to work on it, I waited about a year (after dismantling the parts and stripping the finish from the neck) to ensure the wood had stabilised, having been left in a controlled-humidity environment. Both the neck and body were then tested by leaving them with strings (10/52) fitted and under high tension for a couple of months.Work carried out on the body:- complete overhaul of the original wiring with CTS potentiometers (250k – logarithmic for volume, linear for tones), a vintage Russian oil-paper capacitor (0.0047uF) and a Switchcraft selector switch; the cable input jack has also been completely replaced;- replacement of the original ceramic pickups (which are included in the purchase in any case) with hand-wound pickups, with a resistance of around 6k;- replacement of the bridge (the original was by now unusable) with an excellent Japanese bridge from my vintage Fender Japan: 56mm screw spacing but 54mm string spacing; Work carried out on the neck:- (Partial) stripping of the neck’s finish to check for cracks in the varnish and to inspect the rear reinforcement bar and truss rod;- Ungluing, cleaning and regluing of the rear reinforcement bar;- Replacement of white dots with genuine abalone dots (including the side ones);- Fretboard levelling (7.25'');- replacement of frets with medium jumbo (higher) steel frets;- refinishing with nitrocellulose lacquer (Nitorlack);- replacement of tuners with identical Japanese-made tuners;- custom-made genuine bone nut;
